The Beginning of the Rest of My Life!

For all 4 people that actually read my blog know that when I was younger, I use to actually be in pretty good shape. I played soccer, ran cross country (for approx. 2 weeks) and was very active. I look back at pictures of me my freshman, sophmore, and senior year of high school and yern for that body back. As I have no money to join a gym, I decided I am going to start running again. Dave my husband will tell you that I say this every week. That Monday starts the new lifestyle of eating heathy, exercising, and quitting smoking. But then Monday gets here and there are vanilla waffers calling my name at school and I'm too tired from the weekend to work out. So I decided, why do I need to wait until tomorrow? If I want to change then why can't I start right now on Sunday. I did some research online and found all the 5K's that are happening in Kansas city. I decided to set my goal on the 5K happening on Valentines day. That gives me more than enough time to get into shape AND it will also help me look good for my friend Leah's wedding that is only 1 week after Valentines day. So I know that when you are as out of shape as I am, you can't just go out and start jogging like you use too. So I found a 5K plan from Cool Runnings call the Couch-to-5K plan. After printing it out and reading the page, I put on my running gear, strapped in my iPod, tied up my shoes, and asked David to take a picture of me. I wanted to remember this day and also wanted to document my change. I think by posting my progress on my blog, it will help me keep up with this. So, as you can see, I took my picture with the date, and headed out to start week 1 of my training. I have decided to post a new pic every Sunday since that will be my new start of each week and track my progress.
After I got back from my first jog, I felt very tired, my planters fasciitis was killing my feet, and I felt GREAT! I did it, and didn't cut corners either. I look forward to my next jog Tuesday.

Hey Babe! I am so proud of you....wow! Congrats on this decision and I hope the best for you. You have to read the book skinny bitch! It is a great book about eating healthy to go along with your workouts. Also Stuart just wrote a book called the Full plate diet (a lifestyle change book) in stores soon, or I could send you one. Good luck on the V-day run. Hopefully I can be there to cheer you on.
