Chicken Pox Scare

Last night I noticed some spots on Emery's sides. I called my mom over immediately to check them out. She didn't think much of them though. So I checked her this morning and didn't see any new spots on her so I figured it was just a skin irritation from a shirt I put on her that I didn't wash from the store (I know, I know. Bad Mom Award). Anyway, took Emery over to my moms today while I went grocery shopping. When I went back to pick her up, my moms friend who works at a Dr. office was like, "That's chicken pox." I immediately freaked out. Luckily, David already had a Dr. appt in 10min. So Emery and I showed up and crashed it. Come to find out, she just has a rash, most likely from the shirt I put on her, and she is on meds for it. Thank goodness!

Lights Out

So after there was a big ole' storm here in KC Sunday night, lots of people lost power that night into Monday morning. We were not one of those people. Not one of those people who lost power Sunday night or Monday morning. Monday EVENING however is a different story. Got home from work Monday, ran in the house to change, let the dog out, fed the dog, then left to go out to eat for Daves birthday. When we got back to the house, there was ZERO power. Well guess what is the ONLY way for us to get into our house. Garage door. Which doesn't work well with no power. Off we were to my moms house with NOTHING on us but clothes. It was past Emery's bedtime so we had to put her right to bed around 9pm. I go back to the house around 10ish to see if the power is back. Nope. So back to Moms. I went into work an hour early the next morning just because we were up and I needed to try and get off to get into my powerless house. Anyway, power finally came back to us and we enjoyed a dinner at OUR dinner table and are enjoying our own beds tonight. Oh, and we also have made copies of our house keys so we will always have them on us.

Meet us in St. Louie

Actually you can't, because we already left. But we had lots of fun while we were there. My brother brought one of his band buddies with him on the trip too. There was a crazy storm Sat. night that was kinda scary but Emery didn't wake up. We went to the St. Louis Zoo on Sunday and had lots of fun. Needless to say we were all exhausted by the drive home. Huge thanks to Dad, Denise, Andrew and Nick for taking such great care of Emery on the trip and helping me out!

A few years ago I blogged about Lisa Leonard Designs and how much I loved their designs but their shipping and how long it took SUCKED! BUT, I can't help to look at their new stuff every one in awhile. And I LOVE this necklace. You can print on both sides of the necklace too. So I'm going to strongly hint to Dave that this would be a great XMas, Anniversary, or Mother's Day gift with Emery&Campbell on one side and David&Erin on the other. Perfect.

My Sling!

I ordered a Seven sling last week and got it today! I'm so excited for when I get to use it! I got the blue one called Northern Lights, but really liked all of them. And the best part of the whole thing was, I got it for FREE! I used the code "onefree" and all I paid was $12 for shipping and handling. Twelve bucks for a $40 sling! Highlight of my week def.!

St. Louie!

Heading to St. Louis soon with my Dad and Brother to visit my Grandparents! We are going to hit up the St. Louis Zoo while we are there too. We took Emery last September to the zoo and she loved it! Now we will get to go with Gpa, Gma, and Uncle Andy which should make the experience even more fun! Plus getting to spend time with my Grandparents is always a good time. I'm only a little bummed because we are not leaving till Saturday morning and then coming back Sunday, doesn't leave a lot of time. But all those people in my Grandparents house is a lot to handle so it will be fine. Hopefully we will be able to make it down there more often after Baby #2 comes.

Kung Fu Panda 2

Took Emery to see Kung Fu Panda last weekend. Reminder, Emery is 2. But we took her to the theater (in 3D) to see Toy Story 3 and she sat through the whole thing, without taking the glasses off. So we thought this would be no problem. WRONG! She was all over the place! We even brought her some twizzlers (her fav. candy) and that didn't help. She enjoyed using them as drumsticks trying to beat the Dads head in front of us. That Dad also had a little 6 month old baby with them and Emery would get up behind their seats and say "Hi Baby! What you doing? Hi Baby!"

Needless to say, we may wait awhile before we attempt to take her on another Movie outing.

Baby #2 Update

I wish I had more to write here, but I really don't. There nursery is not done and there is no name picked out yet. Emery we think is more aware of the fact that there is a baby inside Mommy's belly and she is going to be a big sister. The c-section date is about 2 months away. We'll get things figured out by then...hopefully.

Mommy and Emery's Day Out

Dave works every Saturday morning, so it's always just Emery and me. But today Dave went to help his Dad with some work after his regular work, so I wasn't going to see him all day. I wanted to make today a special day for Emery and me since there won't be a lot left once Baby #2 is here. We started out at the River Market to look at groceries with Grandpa Bill and Grandma Denise. Then we went to eat at The Farmhouse in the River Market. It was wonderful, well the food. It's all locally grown stuff. I had the Waffles with Berry Sauce. It was DELISH! My only complaint would be the service. After Brunch and a little more walking around the river market, we went home and both took a nap. When we got up from our nap we kinda lazed around the house for awhile before we set off to do some shopping and listen to some music. Emery played in the fountains while the music was going too. Then we were off to our first experience at Build a Bear. I thought they would give us a little more guidance but we were kinda on our own. That's okay though, Emery got her bear made and named (Hebear) and then we were off to the Pizza Shoppe for dinner. Dave joined us at this point and we ate together and then it was off to bed. Well anyway, it was a good Saturday and I enjoyed every min. of it with Emery.

I'm Baaaaaaaaaack!

Okay not really, I actually took a nap this afternoon and everyone else is asleep already and I'm bored so I thought I'd update my blog as much as I could. Here it goes.

Day 15 - A picture of something you want to do before you die

Of course there are TONS of things I would love to do before I die, but one thing I want (can't wait for....one day) is to FINALLY go on my honeymoon. I know it may sound cheesy, but I want to do this on a cruise ship, with a room with a balcony. This will happen, one day some day. It will.

The Name Game

So I think I have said this before, but finding a name for a boy is HARD! I'm sure a girl would have been hard too, but Dave and I have such different opinions on names. If it was up to him, our sons name would be Gabriel. If it was up to me, our sons name would be Sawyer or Campbell. Well, I took some time today and came up with a huge list of names. Dave and I went through them and narrowed them down. There are still quite a few but this is what it has come down to.

BOY NAMES

Kane (Cane, Cain)
Aldan (ALL-Den)
Silas
Kimball
Rowan
Everett
Forrester
Caelan
Beckett

I'm putting these on here because not a lot of people read my blog, but I would love to know what some of you think. I know it's my choice in the end and "why would I want other people to name my baby?". Thats not the case, just want to know what you guys think.

Day 14 - A picture of someone you could never imagine your life without.

Of course, David and my daughter Emery. I don't know what I would do without them.
My sister and Dad......
Sister again, Mom and brother. Without any of them.....well.....read the caption.

And Again....

I know, I'm not posting as much. Sorry. But I'll try better this week. So news.....

IT'S A BOY!!

On August 17, our new (and hopefully last) family member will be joining us. I had a DR. appt on Monday and we found out we are having a little boy. He is in the 62% on growth so he's a little bigger than average which is fine. We do have some names we are thinking of, let me know what you think. These are not for sure, they are just what we are throwing around right now.

Silas
Kimball
Aldan

Day 11 - A picture of something you hate.

Blach! Any and ALL bugs! I hate them all!

Day 10 - A picture of the person you do the most screwed up things with.

I really had to think about this. I went through lots of pics. Lots are of me with friends having a good time, but the ones that make me think "what was I thinking?" all include RJ. We did some weird and crazy stuff in our time. Luckily for us, we grew up.

Day 09 - A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most.

Top pic is my friend Leah and bottom is Heather. Both have gotten me through more than tou know. I'm pretty sure without them, I would be a completely different person.

Day 08 - A picture that makes you laugh.

This picture makes me laugh because there is a simaliar picture of me like this from when I was around Emery's age. Except in my picture, I have a black eye, a bloody nose, and ice cream all over my face.

Day 07 - A picture of your most treasured item.

It should come as no surprise that my family is my most treasured item. Without these guys I don't know what I would do.

Book pick for the month

My book club chose this book. I had not even heard of it and wasn't sure if I would even like it. A book about the circus in the 1930's? I'm not a history person or a circus person, so what could I possibly like about this book. Um, EVERYTHING! Water for Elephants was great! It has been awhile since I found a book that I could not put down. Even though it hasn't even been a month since I finished the book, I almost want to open it back up and re-read it to see what sort of things I missed. Though I am a tad excited for the movie to come out, I am preparing for disappointment. The movie previews seem to show quite a love story between the two main characters. But the book had a very minimal love story. I mean it was all about the love, but they don't actually go after it till the end. Another thing I found very interesting about this book was the backround on the author and where she got the story idea from. She had never even been to the circus. This is a must read for anyone! I feel like I'm shoving it on everyone I know, but I just love it so much.

Day 06 - A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day.

It honestly took me forever to figure out who I would want to change places with. After thinking about it and thinking about it, I finally decided on Jennifer Aniston. She has no kids, no husband and is super healthy. I would love to live in her shoes for a day to see how she runs her life.

Poop in the bed

There is no secret meaning behind this. This was our Sunday morning. It started out pretty nice. Everyone slept in until 7:30am. That is VERY nice considering that most days the whole house is up by 6:00 or 6:30am. As soon as Dave and I got up, Emery was awake. We took her potty, took off her pull up, and sent her to our room to get dressed. So yes, she was naked running around our room. I got her some panties and tossed them to her and asked her to put them on and come downstairs. She said OK MAMA! I went downstairs to get her drink ready, and asked Dave to check on Emery. As soon as he hit our room he was saying, "Oh my gawd, it's to early for this. Emery! Oh my gawd, Erin! Erin I can't do this so early!" I was like what on earth did she do? And as you can tell by the title, yup, she pooped in our bed. Good thing she is constipated and it was hard and easy to clean up. Needless to say that all the sheets and blankets have been washed in hot HOT water. It wasn't as bad as Dave made it out to be, just a typical day in the Wear house.

Day 05 - A picture of your favorite memory.

I know I look super hot in this picture, but this is for sure my fav. memory. Though I don't actually remember a lot of it, it was the best day of my life. I love you Emery.

My School Kids

Some weeks I am so ready for the weekend, but every Sunday, I'm so ready to see them again!

Work

It was classroom color day at work today. Pre-K all wore red. I don't own red, so I wore a dark pink. But ya so this is pretty much my whole center. I know the pic is small, but if you really want to see it, just click on it and it will get bigger.

Day 04 - A picture of your prince charming

I'm sure the correct answer to this would be my husband, but I don't care. I LOVE Johnny Depp. I often wonder what I would even say to him if I did ever get the chance to meet him without looking like a star struck fan. But that is prob. exactly what I would look like.

Day 03 - A picture of the cast from your favorite show

Modern Family. No comparison! This show is guaranteed to make me laugh every time.

Back To School, Back to School.....

It's not 100% in the books yet, but I have made the decision to go back to school and finish up my bachelors degree. My work partners with Ashford University to make going back to school for employees easy. I will get my degree in Early Childhood Education so I will be able to teach K-5th grade, and get a nice little raise at my current job. My work has a 75% tuition reimbursement AND I have a little over $2300 left over in my college account that I can only use on college. I can't let that money go to waste. All my classes are online and it should take me about 18 months to finish up my degree. I am pretty excited for this but REALLY nervous at the same time. Wish Me Luck!

The No Listening Stage

This has to be the worst it has ever been. Emery will not listen. Oh she hears us just fine. She just things it's funny to say no and run away from whatever it is we are trying to get her to do. I need to look back on my resources and see what can help cure this. Usually if I point out a time-out spot and tell her she will have to sit there she will straighten up. Maybe if I start giving her more options she will do better.

We went on a walk tonight (something I have vowed to do every night till the baby comes, weather permitting) but it was just Emery and me. It was the first time the two of us have gone on a walk alone around the neighborhood where Emery actually wanted to walk herself. It was a disaster. She wanted to pick up every stick, pick EVERY dandelion, and kick the rocks around. What should have been a 25min. walk turned into a 45 min. walk.

It's just so frustrating when I work with 4-5 year olds all day that don't listen, and then I have to come home to a 2 year old that doesn't listen, and sometimes even my husband pretends to not hear me!

I will fix this problem.

Day 02 - A picture of you and someone you're close with

The first picture is of my best friend Heather. We don't talk every day or even every month, but when we do, it's like pudding. I can still tell her anything and everything and love her for life.

The next pic is of my other best friend Leah. I do talk to her if not every day then pretty darn close. Now that she has had her first baby, we havnt been talking as much, but she is my forever best friend.

The last picture is of my sister and brother. We have always been close and they rock.

I could not find a picture of my other great friend Morgan who I work with. She is someone I also talk with every day. Not only because we work together but I can tell her anything. She is awesome.

I know that is a lot of people but I am close with all of them and they all mean the world to me.

Day 01 - A Picture of Yourself with 10 Facts

1. I love getting snail mail. From actual people. Bills and credit card apps don't count!
2. I love to dress up! I don't get to do it often enough. But I feel it's nice to look nice.
3. Even though I hated school, I have always wanted to be a teacher and teach 3rd grade.
4. I love to swim! Hate the hot heat and the whole having to wear a swim suit, but once I'm in the pool and having fun, it really doesn't matter anymore.
5. As much as I have fun going out with friends, I am completely content and even a little happier with a bunch of friends sitting on a patio listening to some good music and some good drinks. Some of my best memories come from patios.
6. Don't ever tell my husband I said this (and he doesn't even know I have a blog) but I am a terriable driver!! I back into things, other cars come out of nowhere, and have hit quite a few things. Never anything serious, but how do you run into the garage door? Really?
7. If I was ever given the choice to go on vacation to the beach or to the mountains....I would choose the mountains hands down.
8. I hardly ever drink soda. I just don't get it. If I do ever drink one, it's usually a sprite or root beer. No caffeine.
9. I have a huge family and I love them all! Seriously, we are big and loud and all in each others business but I love our get togethers. It makes me sad when they move away (Megan and Andrew!!!).
10. I can't handle it when people cry around me. I get so uncomfortable. I don't care if you are my best friend in the whole world, don't cry around me. It's not that I don't like it, I just get nervous and don't know how to handle it. My co-teacher Laura is trying to prepare me for our graduation because there are lots of parents crying. Wonderful, I think I'll call in that day.

30 Day Picture Challenge

Even though I have vowed to write on my blog more often, I'm doing a pretty bad job. So to make sure I write at least one thing every day for the next 30 days, I picked up this 30 day photo challenge from my friend Morgan.

So these are the rules....

Day 01 - A picture of yourself with ten facts.

Day 04 - A picture of your prince charming.

... of somewhere you'd love to travel.
Day 21 - A picture of something you wish you could forget.
Day 22 - A picture of something you wish you were better at.

Day 24 - A picture of something you wish you could change.
Day 25 - A picture of your day.

PhotoBooth Fun

Endless hours of fun.

The TOMS search

I saw these shoes in a Journeys Kidz and fell in LOVE! Come to find out, they are VERY POPULAR! They didn't have Emery's size and any of the colors they had. Then when I asked them to order them for me, apparently, Toms doesn't do it like that, I'd have to order it from the Toms site, which is fine, just annoying that I couldn't do it in the store. Anyway, I found some other shoes for Emery to wear in the summer and had kinda forgotten about them when all of a sudden, they are popping up all over my work on the kids! Of course all those parents are getting them from Nordstorms in Overland Park which I live nowhere near. So I have accepted that I am going to have to buy them online. Went onto the Toms site tonight....all the colors I want for Emery were sold out of her SIZE!!! I will continue my search though. Maybe Dillards at Zona will be my lucky spot.

If you would like to check out all of TOMS comfy looking shoes, do so here.

Change of Name

I have been thinking about changing the name of my blog. With another little one on the way, I have a hard enough time keeping up with one blog, I may as well join them together. But I want it to be more than that. I also think that with 2 kids, I may need somewhere to vent other life needs. But I'm not sure what to name it. I'll be thinking and designing a new logo.

March of Dimes March for Babies

This year will be the 3rd year I have walked for the March of Dimes March for Babies. I am a little more proud this year though because my work has gotten involved and we will all walk together. Together we have raised more than $400 dollars. This will help so much and selfishly, makes me feel really good that we have done so much. If you want to come walk with us, the walk is May 1st, downtown KC Power & Light District. If you would like to donate to this cause you can do so here.

Things Other Parents Never Warned me About

Emery has just found out that she can reach the window button in the car. When it's nice out we have been letting her roll down her window. What I was never warned about was the fact that my child would very quietly take off her shoes and try to THROW them out the window. She did this very successfully on Barry Rd. on a red light. Luckly I had time at the red light to jump out and get it, roll up the window, and lock it. LoL Thanks for the warning!

So many suits, so little time.

For Christmas, my Dad and Step-mom got Dave, Emery and I season passes to Tiffany Springs Water Park. Emery and I would go a lot last summer and she loved it. So it was the perfect gift. All the swimsuits are starting to hit the kids stores, and I want ALL OF THEM! It's so hard for me to chose just 1. So I'm justifying it by getting her 3. One for waterplay at her school that will stay there all the time. One to stay at Mimi and Papas for their pool. And last one stays with us for Tiffany Springs. Now it's just which 3 to choose?

Thursday, February 10, 2011

The problem is....

The problem with my day off, is it really isn't a day off at all. Because the second I try to sit down and relax, Emery gets into the pen and marker drawer and draws all over her face. Yes folks, that is permanent marker on her face.

Fashion Statement

As Emery gets older, she has started wanting to do more things all on her own. One of those things happens to be picking out what she wears and dressing herself. Sometimes this can prove to be quite a fashion statement. Today, Emery chose to wear jeans (put them on all by herself, backwards), her bumblebee costume and her winter hat. She rocked this look all day. Wouldn't even let us take it off when we went to the Pizza Shoppe for lunch.

Announcing Joy

I will most likely design my own birth announcements for Baby #2, but I like to look at websites to get ideas. I found the site SimplyToImpress and fell in love with it. They have such unique designs that I have never seen. Get's me all excited.
