The Beginning of the Rest of My Life!

For all 4 people that actually read my blog know that when I was younger, I use to actually be in pretty good shape. I played soccer, ran cross country (for approx. 2 weeks) and was very active. I look back at pictures of me my freshman, sophmore, and senior year of high school and yern for that body back. As I have no money to join a gym, I decided I am going to start running again. Dave my husband will tell you that I say this every week. That Monday starts the new lifestyle of eating heathy, exercising, and quitting smoking. But then Monday gets here and there are vanilla waffers calling my name at school and I'm too tired from the weekend to work out. So I decided, why do I need to wait until tomorrow? If I want to change then why can't I start right now on Sunday. I did some research online and found all the 5K's that are happening in Kansas city. I decided to set my goal on the 5K happening on Valentines day. That gives me more than enough time to get into shape AND it will also help me look good for my friend Leah's wedding that is only 1 week after Valentines day. So I know that when you are as out of shape as I am, you can't just go out and start jogging like you use too. So I found a 5K plan from Cool Runnings call the Couch-to-5K plan. After printing it out and reading the page, I put on my running gear, strapped in my iPod, tied up my shoes, and asked David to take a picture of me. I wanted to remember this day and also wanted to document my change. I think by posting my progress on my blog, it will help me keep up with this. So, as you can see, I took my picture with the date, and headed out to start week 1 of my training. I have decided to post a new pic every Sunday since that will be my new start of each week and track my progress.
After I got back from my first jog, I felt very tired, my planters fasciitis was killing my feet, and I felt GREAT! I did it, and didn't cut corners either. I look forward to my next jog Tuesday.

Half Way Up The Hill

As my 25th Birthday quickly approaches, I have been asked what I would like for my birthday. As I tell people not to get me anything, I don't need anything for my birthday, in my head, this is what I am wishing for....
A new iMac desktop computer from Apple.
The Nike + iPod sports kit to help with my new running goal. More about that in my next post.
A new North Face fleece jacket. In pink, blue, or maybe even a green?
A Nalgene bottle because I am trying to drink more water during the day.
And last but not least, new Nike+ running shoes. They go with the Nike+iPod sports kit and I would like an actual running shoe apart from an everyday tennis shoe.

One!

October 8 marked the one year birthday of my baby Emery. We celebrated that night with dinner and her first piece of cake, and then on Saturday we had a big party. Emery had lots of friends and family come and we had a ball. Below are some pics of her big day!We woke Emery up by singing her Happy Birthday.
Opening presents on her birthday night.

Finally Fall!

Today was a beautiful Sunday! We decided to spend our time outside at the Liberty Corn Maze. Instead of going into the actual maze though, we went to the farm that was right next door. There they had a petting zoo, slides, train, farm shops, and a hay ride that took you out to the pumpkin patch where you can pick your own pumpkin.
Emery loved the hay ride and loved even more running around the pumpkin patch.
Her and Daddy found the perfect pumpkin for Emery to paint.
Emery was so tired at the end of the trip that we didn't even have time to do the easy Hillbilly maze on the way home. Maybe next time.

Running Gear

So I am not a runner what-so-ever. I use to play soccer and run a lot though and I loved it. I have had a lot of weddings in these past few months that I have been to, one that I have been in. And looking at those pictures, I am not happy with myself. Where did my body go? Right down the drain apparently. I need to get back into something. I have one very important wedding coming up soon. My friend Leah is FINALLY getting married to the love of her life. I am a bridesmaid in this wedding and I want to look good. When we went to get fitted for dresses, they measured me at a 28!!! I am NOT a 28. Even the sales lady was like, "You don't look like a size 28 girl. I have seen a lot of 28 girls and you do not look anything like their bodies did." Great, Thanks, but they ordered me the 28 anyway because that was what I was measuring. I will not wear that dress in that size! I will run! I will get into some sort of shape this isn't round! And here is the gear that is going to help me.

Coming in at my number one spot is the Nike + iPod Sport Kit. Only $29.99 and it's mine. What you do is put this little thing into your shoe, then plug in your iPod, put on your fav. tunes and RUN! When you are done with your run, plug your iPod into your computer and you have your distance, minutes ran, calories burned, and a goal to reach! I will be asking for this for my birthday or christmas to get me going!
Coming in second place at $59.00 is the Nike + SportBand. It basically does everything the iPod one does except this one keeps your pace and is more expensive. Even the kids that helped me in Dicks Sporting Goods recommended the iPod one.
