Why Not?

So for dinner tonight, I decided to give Emery sweet potatoes because it is one of the few veggies that she actually likes. As I was feeding her, she started to grab the spoon to take bites herself (or just play with the spoon). Her hands were getting really messy and I knew that if I let this go any further, I would have a huge mess on my hands. And then I thought, "why the heck not?".  So,  I let Emery have at the bowl and spoon. She had a ball being in control when usually mommy is. It was a little burst of fun for her that she really enjoyed. Even though she was a complete mess, I didn't mind cleaning her up. She enjoyed the bath afterwards just as much =). So in conclusion, if you are ever thinking about telling your child no because you don't want to clean up the mess, next time try saying to yourself "why not", you may get an unexpected smile.

Goals update

So, I made up a list of goals to live by and I thought I would update everyone on how I was doing with each one of them:

1. Clean up debt - Well, Dave and I have moved into my moms house to save us our huge mortage payment that we had. Hopefully it was a good choice and will help the debt problem.
2. Work at least 40 hours a week - I am actually doing pretty well on this one besides having to take a day off to pack up the house last week. I have been staying till 4:30 which I never use to.
3. Lose weight/Get in shape - Hm, well no not yet. Dave and I looked at a Y membership because there is one so close to our house now. But it does not fit into our budget so...hopefully when the weather gets better, I will get better.
4. Run 1/2 marathon by this time next year - Reference #3
5. Be nicer to my husband, even if he is not being nice to me - I have been working on this and I have talked to him about it as well. I am trying, but I can do better.
6. Blog more, even if I don't have anything to blog about -  Ya not doing well no this one either. I did make the effort to scan in all those old pictures though from Easter and that was a chore. Hopefully when I am all settled in this house, I will do better.
7. Drink more water - I am very good about drinking water at work. It is when I get home that I have the problem. It is almost 2pm today and I don't think I have had one glass. I'll go get one right now.
8. Stop giving in to my cigarette cravings for my health, and for my daughter - Maybe I should not have done this update, because again, not doing well on this. The stress is just really getting to me with moving and money and work and school....it's hard but I will work on this too.
9. Actually cook more meals than just pancakes or PB&J for dinner - Since we have been in the moving process AND Dave works a lot of nights, I have not done this. But when Dave is home, we do try and do something special. BUT again since we are trying to save money....PB&J might be the only thing we can afford.
10. Call and visit my grandparents more often - I have been talking to them more than usual but I still have yet to visit them. AND AGAIN, money is really tight right now so I don't know that we will be making a trip soon unless my Dad goes too.

So, this is pathetic, I need to work on these. I will print them off and put them on my fridge to help remind me that I am trying to better myself with these goals. Maybe then I can write a success goal update.

Easter Now and Then

Happy Easter to everyone out there who reads my blog! I thought I would share some of my favorite Easter pictures with you.
I'm going to take a gander and guess that I was a little over a year old, amazed that the Easter bunny left me an egg.
2 years old, 1986 Easter morning. Look at the dress my sister has on! I LOVE it!
Same Easter as above. My Grandpa got all of his grandkids ducks for easter. I really loved my duck!
Emery and I's first Easter together!

It Starts With One

On May 3, Dave, Emery and I will be walking for the March of Dimes march for babies walk at the Power and Light District. This is just our way of kind of giving back. I am personally going to donate to our team and if you would like to donate or even join or team you can do so here. I am very excited to help this cause and just wanted to share.

Huge Diaper Sale!!! Really?

So, I am doing some shopping at HyVee the other day and I see a sign that there is a sale on diapers. I go into the diaper isle to check out this sale...
Hmm.....can I resist a deal this good? I couldn't help but take a picture of that.

Showered with Love

My friend from college is getting ready to have her first baby in May. Baby Logan will be her name. Shanny had 2 showers today and me, her sister, and our other friend Kory threw her a diaper shower. The cake below was made by Kim's Custom Cakes, a nice lady that makes them out of her house, she also did Dave and I's wedding cake. The shower and cake were a huge hit. Baby Logan is now set on diapers for a few months (hopefully) and Shannon and Scott have more pink outfits than they have closet space. Picture above starting from the left: Kory, Lacey, Shannon, Me up top, and Courtney with Emery. Below is the diaper cake made from Kim, and then below that: Me, Shannon, Courtney and Kory.
